Mystic River ~ key & taylor ~

T" or "taylor" was born in Memphis. T's real name is Taylor Taylor. He prefers to go simply by taylor.

T was "molded" by the musical talents of his mom. June explored vaudeville, radio, & stage, and at
one point opened her own club called The Casino. As an accomplished performer (piano, dance, singing, song- writing & choreography) June moved to Hollywood Beach, and produced many
notable shows

Taylor began playing guitar at the age of 9. His 1st group was formed at the age of 14. Influences include the Eagles, America, Moody Blues, Paul Simon, Dylan, & CSN&Y. The #1 impact on his music was the Beatles. Taylor plays flute, bass & drums, as well as composing and arranging orchestrally on keyboards.

T is a proud alum of UF. In his 3rd year a professor in the English college asked him to compose a song for an associate's book. This first attempt at a music writing project was published by Antheneum, in A Book for Jodan. In 1997 a poem written by taylor, Static in the Attic, was chosen as a top 10 finalist, over millions of entrants, in the 1st Annual MTV Video Awards Writing Contest.

Taylor's first serious group, Flow was offered a "major" 7 million dollar contract by Steve Alaimo & TK Records. TK was the label best known for K.C..& The Sunshine Band.  K.C. was the #1 recording group of the 70's. In 2003, taylor published HIS very telling  true horror story on a life
(mind-altering) experience in the "music biz". Flow's story can now be read. *

At one 70's festival taylor's group, Flow, opened for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. After performing a set scheduled for 30 minutes, which went on into an hour, taylor & his group exited the stage to find the  promoter of the show had absconded with the "gate". T returned to the dressing room to tell his group they would not be paid.  John McEuen, founder/leader of Nitty Gritty, wrote a check out of his personal account for $500. McEuen then led his group onstage & played for free, for over 2 hours.

During the 70's taylor opened shows for major acts, including; Dion, Jimmie Spheeris, Stevie Wonder, & Seals & Crofts. At the Seals & Croft show Jimmie Seals offered taylor $2K backstage, for a vintage guitar (Gibson es175) Flow used as the opening act. T refused the offer, despite needing funds for studio work. It had been a "gift" by a fan. Taylor felt it would "dis" the present.

In 73 taylor saw 2 Gainesville singers on local access TV. Savage & Saunders joined with taylor to form the trio, SST, which was asked to do backing vocals for Stephen Stills on his European tour.

In the winter of 2002, taylor joined forces with key, and began work as Mystic River . Key is an amazing, talented performer & truly gifted vocalist and violinist. Backed by t's sequences & broadened by the emotive performances of key and her electric 5-string violin, Mystic River's music is most definitely a ...Mystical Musical Experience! By the spring of 2003 key and taylor's chemistry, musically and otherwise, led them to "band" for life.

T & key weave wonder with flowing tunes of spirit, power, & harmony. Mystic River magically melds intelligent lyric, wonderful melodies, & amazing harmony in the same fashion of the best acts in the pop era. Many supporters have likened their work to some of the greatest TEAMS in pop music… CSN&Y, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, the BeeGees, The Beatles, & of course the truly incredible Moody Blues.

Mystic River has created an ever-widening DEEP catalog of awe-inspiring originals. Their songs ring
of beauty, power, & mystery. "Mystic Music" as they refer to their work, is best described as "enthralling." Rollin has got to be in time, considered among the greatest road songs ever written, a future #1 Country-Rock Classic! Their song Sing must be considered in the leagues of such rock classics "Poperas" like Pinball Wizard by the Who or Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin.

Mystic River has been hailed as one of the finest vocal harmony teams ever. Music lovers are lucky to find duos, trios, or groups that have great vocal chemistry... voices that together, truly work a special magic. Taylor & Key are blessed. " Mystic River's harmony is natural organic chemistry ".

Mystic River performs songs few groups would dare to tackle. Among these You've Lost That Loving Feeling by the Righteous Brothers, I've Got You Babe by Sonny & Cher, Elenore by the Turtles, Southern Cross by CS&N, & I Know You're Out There Somewhere by the Moody Blues. Less would even DARE to try Beginnings by Chicago, and do it justice. Their covers of the greatest hits of the BeeGees, the Eagles, and Fleetwood Mac, reflect their unerring ability to grasp the most difficult & intricate harmony structures. To hear some real magical music make sure you request Mystic River's inimitable covers of Pure Prarie League's Amie or their truly surrealistic and haunting Ghostriders in the Sky! Check out their Credence Clearwater Classix Medley. Their 60's BEACH MUSIC medley starts with My Girl by the Temptations and then magically &seamlessly flows into Under the Boardwalk by the Drifters, then Runaway by Del Shannon, to The Letter by the Boxtops, finishing up with Happy Together, by the Turtles... Super Songs mixed ARTFULLY in the inimitable styling of Mystic River!

Mystic River has a repertoire of over 300 songs, all within the Top 10 of either the Pop or Country Charts. In other words, Mystic River performs songs most people know by heart, songs that most love to sing. Often at a Mystic River performance you will hear many in the audience singing along with the majority of the songs they may perform on any given evening. Many people consider Mystic River COVERS to be better than the original recordings.

Listeners attending any performance or concert can "tire" of any groups sound. One of the things that made the Beatles, the Beatles was one never knew what was coming next. Each song certainly was different in feel, tempo, melodic attack, and vocal presentation. It is due to that inspiration that taylor has "worked" to create the dynamics he and key "bring" to their "shows". Mystic River changes their approach to every song to purposefully invoke a palette of "color" and "texture". Mystic River is certainly THE Power Duo!

Mystic River has gained a reputation as a performing phenomenon. Due to the incredible sequences which taylor & key play along with during their shows, this 2 piece group can sound in one song like they are backed by a chamber orchestra, or a full tilt rock & roll band with a complete horn section ala Chicago. These sequences are played, composed, arranged and recorded by T & Key, into state of the art digital sequencer keyboards. They have invested hundreds of hours in the studio to create this incredible tapestry. on top of which, they lay their inspired vocals and live instrumental performances.

Mystic River always performs with a Stereo P.A. The music flows perfectly from beginning to end. Most people who attend one of their performances usually equate the experience as …"… better than most concerts!" They will make you Dance, put you in a Trance, and stir the Romance in you.

Mystic River always plays non-stop, absolutely no breaks. It is rare to stop in and hear a group at a club or restaurant and see people sitting raptly hour after hour listening. The performance given by key & taylor is hypnotic and spell-bounding. It is eary to see why many may find themselves Chemically Addicted (a MR original) to Mystic River .

Mystic River is TRULY among the "must see" musical acts of our time. To take poetic license from the great music genius Bob Marley, "They Be JAMMIN!"
